You know from memory when this came out it
was a heavily publicised film due to the amount of Demi Moore that you see but Im
sure it was generally a flop compared to what was expected. Being a female I do have some
reservations about it, not that Im a prude in anyway its just that thing about
watching insanely beautiful women take off their clothes to turn men on... and if it were
men Im sure males would have a similar opinion. Im still at odds as to my
final opinion on the movie but I guess it wasnt too bad. Demi Moore plays Erin
Grant a generally respectable citizen who has lost her job with the FBI thanks to her
husbands less than savoury activities.
She goes to court in a custody battle of her only daughter and loses to her husband
with the help of a corrupt judge.
Erin now being jobless and without her family is forced to take on work at the local
Eager Beaver (the name says it all) strip club. She hopes to raise enough money to go back
to court to battle the custody of her daughter.
Little does Erin know that she has become the fantasy of a bumbling deviate congressman
David Dilbeck (Burt Reynolds).
Congressman Dilbeck does his best to win the affections of Erin and along the way a few
people get knocked off at the hand of his assistant. Erin does everything possible to earn
the thousands of dollars she needs for her court appeal, which even means personal dances
for the congressman.
She spends most of her time juggling the FBI, the congressman , her daughter and her
dancing job till they all come to a head!
So How Does This Transfer Hold Up?
VIDEO
The 1.78:1 Anamorphic Widescreen transfer is excellent! It certainly took
some looking to find faults here. I was most impressed with the colour palette in the
transfer. While the colours were a little oversaturated it gave the film a rich feeling
and did not cause any problems. No edge bleeding or excessive oversaturation just enough
to make everything really grab your eye.
There are quite a few film artefacts but not enough to really throw you.
MPEG artefacts were not to be seen and only a couple of insignificant cases of
ailiasing occurred.
Shadow detail was perfect and with a predominantly night shot film this would have been
extremely difficult to achieve.
The background was an occasionally a little softly focused but this is an attribute of
the original film process not a fault of the transfer.
AUDIO
The Dolby 2.0 audio track is also quite spectacular. While there is a lot
of dialogue is this film that leans to the centre channel there is also a lot of music and
some good effects which make a constant use of the surround channels and some good use of
the base channel. The base channel is not continually thumping but just making itself
known really.
The dialogue was generally clear and easy to understand with a couple of exceptions
where it needed an increase in volume.
The musical score from Howard Shore is great! And being a late eighties teenager I
loved the Eager Beaver music!

Overall if you have a bit of a thing for Demi Moore youll enjoy this film. I was
more impressed with some good lines from Burt Reynolds.
