The Fugitive
Starring Harrison Ford (Air Force One, Patriot Games) and Tommy Lee JONES (Blown Away,Under Siege) this DVD is brought to you by Warner Home Video. It is the story of a man Dr Richard KIMBLE (Ford) who is wrongly accused of brutally murdering his wife, brought to trial, then convicted and sentenced to death. On his way to prison the prison van in a vain escape attempt by other prisoners on board is involved in a major accident involving a freight train and Kimble survives and is freed.
He then sets out to find his wifes' murderer whom he believes is a one armed man with the U.S Marshalls Office in hot pursuit lead by Sam Gerard (JONES (Best Supporting Actor - this role). This is a thoroughly enjoyable movie from start to finish and Ford and Jones give excellent performances in their respective roles.
The transfer itself I thought was good but did'nt overly impress me to the extent of other DVD's I have seen. I don't know the quality of some transfers out nowadays really do blow you away and you can't help compare one DVD to the next. There was not so much trouble with artifacts or pixelisation I just thought that the colour saturation was abit flat. The colours were not vibrant as they are on other DVD movies but rather abit dull. The image is presented in both the letterbix (1.85:1) and Pan & Scan versions on both sides of the disc. The letterboxed version is also anarmorphically enhanced for 16x9 televisions. There are some great moments in this film with the train wreck (Yes, it is real) scoring a 10 out of 10.
The audio is presented in Dolby Digital and the downmix Pro Logic, both are quite good and the movie is accompanied by a very good score provided James Howard.
Features include Interactive Menus, Production Notes, Star bios and an audio track in French. Subtitles are also provided in French, English and Spanish.
Overall a good movie to own. Recommended.
