And so continues the adventures of Monkey and Co as they head for India.

Volume 2 of the AV Channel Monkey DVD Series features episodes 4 to 6

4. Monkey Swallows the Universe

5. The Power of Youth

6. Even Monsters Can be People

Episode 6 is perhaps the episode i remember the most, with the red blue and yellow demons disguised as humans, who monkey sees in their true demon form, but no one else can.   (i think it had a certain creep factor way back when :)

So how does this transfer hold up?

...

VIDEO
Maybe i'm on drugs but i'd swear Episodes 4 and 6 on this DVD looks better than Volume 1.  these ones looks just a little cleaner, a little sharper and a little stronger in colour saturation.
Episode 5 however is a different story, it's much softer looking.

There are still problems inherent in the Print source, and there's plently of noise in the picture, but again, it's a TV show over 20 years old, and hasn't been restored as such.

ALL  3 episodes of monkey are again squeezed onto a single layer DVD and doesn't appear to have suffered from the high compression.  Just the same I would have thought a Dual Layer DVD9 would have been the best way to present over 2 hours of Monkey Shenanigans.

....

AUDIO
No difference in the audio thought, it's a Dolby 2.0 mono track   with an extremely limited  Dynamic range , but at least the dialogue is very intellegable, even if it's English dubbed over Japanese.

EXTRAS
The Same badly designed user unfriendly menus have been used for Volume 2....pity

- Randomly displayed Episode Synopsis from all 39 episodes.  You select the box to the lower right of the screen (it displays the episode number in the top left of the box) when you go into another menu and back to the main menu, the selectable episode changes...nice

And there's also Cast Bios.

It's all good fun and a welcome revisit on DVD.
The quality may not be the best, but don't that let you stop buying this on DVD.
(unlike Volume 1, this one is playable in ALL regions....no wonder Ezy DVD are always running out of stock :)

PICTURE QUALITY   4/10 Eps 4 and 6 look better than 5
SOUND Quality

4/10 clean and clear dialogue, but that's it

EXTRAS    1/10 can't say I expected much anyhoo
