The watcher is right up there with any good thriller
and I found myself on the edge of my seat for much of it. At times though it was a little
predictable.
James Spader puts in a brilliant performance as Joel Campbell a has-been FBI agent.
Joel has moved to Chicago to lie low and ponder his life after the death of his wife at
the hands of a very clever serial killer.
Keanu Reeves plays David Allen Griffin the Watcher. The Watcher being a long time
serial killer who has a strange affiliation with Campbell has returned to make another
mark on his life. Campbell has left L.A. after having chased Griffin for a long time and
then fallen victim to his killing when he murders his wife in a horrific burning. Campbell
lives a sorry life, visiting a therapist (Marisa Tomei) often, in an attempt to deal with
the whole situation. All the while Griffin has been hunting down Campbell to begin the
game again, and when he finds him, it brings Campbell back to the life of and FBI agent
very quickly as he is the only one who knows the way Griffin thinks.
In a harrowing game he sends pictures of his victims to Campbell giving him 24 hours to
find the person before he kills them.
But will Campbell be fast enough to save the potential new woman in his life?
