Sweet November is based on the 1968 screenplay and
does a very good job of modernising the story.
Advertising executive Nelson Moss (Keanu Reeves) is on top
of the world. Or so he thinks. He has it all; a successful career, a fabulous girlfriend,
and anything material that one could desire. However all this starts to change when he
meets Sara Deever (Charlize Theron). Sara lives a happy and unconventional life and after
meeting Nelson at a drivers license exam she goes to work on him.
Soon after Nelson manages to lose his life completely
Job/Girlfriend and everything he thought had meaning to him all falls apart in the space
of 24 hours. Sara however turns up again and rescues our Nelson in what turns out to be
something quite unexpected.
Sara takes on Nelson for one month to show him that there
is much more to life than he has grown to love. Nelson resists at first but eventually he
finds that this isnt so bad and begins to like his new carefree and much happier
life.
Of course Nelson falls for Sara but of course this romance
can never be.
This is the typical chick flick and youll have to see
it to find out the twist in the end. |
So how does this DVD Scrub Up?

VIDEO
The 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer is spectacular! I found myself
at times actually trying to find faults rather than just noticing them. The image is
crystal clear and sharp throughout and shadow detail is also perfect.
The colour palette is rich and highly saturated with nice
autumn tones and bright brassy colours to compliment. The use of lighting has played well
on the tones of the film.
There were no mpeg artefacts, only some small film to video artefacts in the form of
minor ailiasing and no film artefacts to be found.
This is an excellent transfer |
AUDIO
The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track is also very good but not
quite up to the standard of the video transfer. The film is very much dialogue based and
this is clear and easy to understand at all times.
The soundtrack from Christopher Young is one of the more
memorable ones I have heard recently and I often found myself listening to the score
rather than the dialogue.
The surround channels are used minimally and there is much more room for improvement
here. You could often be forgotten for thinking this was a purely stereo track. The LFE
channel was used minimally if at all. I certainly didnt hear it. |

- Featurette: From the heart: 10 minutes. A revealing look at the film.
Better than your average promo featurette but really not much more substance.
OVERALL
I love chick flicks so I really enjoyed this. Not everyones cup of tea though I
imagine. |
