....

For those that know me it is no surprise to find that this is one of the highlights of my collection. As is any good British comedy. Whilst I generally find stupid American humour to be quite tedious, I just can’t get enough of the stupid Brits. Patsy and Edina are right up there with my favourites.

There are 6 episodes on this dvd which covers the entire first series.

Episode 1: Fashion – Eddies fashion show which seems to go very well considering the morning she spends before hand trying to get everything organised.

Episode 2: Fat – The episode where Eddie spends most of her time trying to fid the thin person inside her.

Episode 3: France – This is one of my favourite episodes. Eddie and Patsy set off to France on a holiday but have one god awful time in finding the little cottage where they are staying.

Episode 4: Iso tank – Eddie wakes up mid fantasy dream in an isolation tank and scares herself more than anyone else.

Episode 5: Birthday – The dreaded birthday with both of Edinas ex husbands and partners. Of course nothing goes smoothly.

Episode 6: Magazine – Patsy actually manages to show up at work, but is faced with the drama of having to actually do something for a change.

Whilst this is of course a very brief overview anyone who is a fan of the show would know all of these anyway as they do tend to stick in your mind.

So how does this DVD Scrub Up?

VIDEO
The 1.33:1 Original FULL FRAME (non anamorphic) transfer is very much on the average side. Close up detail is very good throughout but the more distant images are a little less focused. This does not seem to detract from the overall picture though, more so, it draws your attention to the focused images.

Shadow detail was pretty poor for most of the time but this doesn’t seem to bother you too much as most of the footage is shot on a well lit set.

There are some small instances of mpeg artefacting consisting of some minor blocking, and there is consistent evidence of shimmering throughout. But neither to a major degree.

There were no Film Artefacts at all, which would indicate that this has perhaps been shot on video rather than film.

AUDIO
The Dolby Digital 2.0 audio track was also a little on the dull side. The audio is predominantly dialogue based which was always clear and easy to understand, apart from the ravings of Edina at her best.

The surrounds had no part in the audio track and similarly Bass seemed to be quiet throughout as well.

The soundtrack from Simon Brint and Simon Wallace was pretty much nonexistent except of course for the theme song: This Wheel’s on Fire, which can easily be related to the show.

OVERALL
Well this rates highly with me purely because I find it so funny, but I truly love british humour.
