ORBIT INTO THE FANTASTIC FUTURE
WITH HG WELLS CLASSIC ADVENTURE
THE TIME MACHINE
Warner Home Video whirls you to a
world of amazing adventure in the year 800,000 with the DVD release of H.G Wells
classic tale The Time Machine Special Edition, yours to
own for $34.95 RRP.
Winner of the 1961 Academy Awardâ
for Best Special Effects, The Time Machine is based on Wells 1895 novel of the same
name and stars Rod Taylor as George, Alan Young as Filby (David & James) and Yvette
Mimieux as Weena.
Setting the temporal starting point
of the classic H.G. Wells novel in the year 1960 (rather than 1900), The Time Machine
follows the time traveler George (Taylor) as he passes through World Wars I, II, and III
and finally stops in the year 802,701. There he finds an apathetic, placid people called
the Eloi and falls in love with one of their number, the beautiful blonde Weena (Mimieux).
To his horror, however, he learns that the Eloi's apathy is generated by a maniacal,
cannibalistic underworld - and that the only way to help them is to incite a revolution.
Special features include a 47 minute
behind-the-scenes documentary "The Time Machine: The Journey Back" hosted by Rod
Taylor and featuring co-stars Alan Young & Whit Bissell. |
