COLUMBIA TRISTAR HOME
ENTERTAINMENT
A STAR IS BORN
Global leader in film entertainment,
Columbia TriStar, today proudly launched its new name and identity: Columbia TriStar
Home Entertainment Pty Ltd. With Columbia TriStar leading the Australian DVD
revolution, the name was specifically introduced to embrace Columbias wide diversity
of home entertainment services as well as reflect the future growth of their
ever-developing entertainment areas.
Columbia is now widely known to have
led the consumer revolution into DVD format; being the first of the major film studios to
release DVD into the Australian marketplace. With Australians converting to DVD at a
historically, rapid rate no other home entertainment technology, including TV, VCRs or
CDs, has enjoyed this same pace of growth. DVDs are currently played in more than 300,000
Australian homes, with predictions to reach 380,000 by the end of the year.
Therefore, formerly Columbia TriStar
Home Video, the new Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has been introduced to
specifically reflect, and celebrate, the phenomenal growth of their DVD business. It also
allows for great scope to venture into other growth avenues as Columbia continues to lead
change and innovation within entertainment.
"As pioneers of the
entertainment industry, we welcomed the technology of DVD software with open arms since
the very beginning," says Michele Garra, Managing Director of Columbia TriStar Home
Entertainment, "and we are now enjoying the huge benefits of this burgeoning DVD
market."
"The entertainment industry is
experiencing incredible growth; as filmmakers we at Columbia TriStar have been at the
forefront of this development for years. Out new name encapsulates this growth and will
ensure that we continue to maintain our reputation for providing the most superior quality
in home entertainment," continued Ms Garra.
Columbia TriStar Australian operations is the only
territory in the world to change their name to Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment. Their
current areas of business include sell-through video, video rental and DVD, with
distribution rights outside of North America for a range of Universal Studios DVDs |
