REGION FOUR GLADIATOR DVD UNCUT
Following recent consumer speculation
that the Region 4 release of the Gladiator DVD has been censored, Columbia TriStar
Home Entertainment confirmed the Region 4 Gladiator DVD released on December 6,
2000, is uncut and an identical version to its Region 1 counterpart. The extra features on
both the Region 4 and Region 1 DVDs are the same. The feature on the Region 4 DVD is the
same as both its Australian and US theatrical release.
"We are pleased to confirm that
Australian consumers are receiving the same features and movie on the Region 4 Gladiator
DVD as the Region 1 DVD. We want to reassure our customers that the recent speculation
suggesting the Region 4 version was shorter than the Region 1 DVD can be attributed to the
difference between the PAL and NTSC systems, whereby PAL runs slightly faster than NTSC.
The running time for the PAL version was 148 minutes whereas the NTSC version was 155
minutes.
"I am happy to say that we have
even physically checked both versions of the DVD for comparative assessment to ensure that
they are the same," said Michele Garra, Managing Director of Columbia TriStar Home
Entertainment.
Gladiator is the biggest
selling DVD ever released to the Australian market. It has shipped in excess of 150,000
units since its December 6 release. |
