Oh
Lord, Giveth our Fellows a DVD that Rings True
With so much buzz across the globe regarding the upcoming multi-release of Lord Of The

..And they Say Size Doesn't Matter!
The one good thing about keeping an eye on the indie circuit is that at times
you are privy to some real gems when it comes to movies. Hollywood-ised they are NOT
and 99% of the time that's a really good thing when you tend to find big budget movies
becoming somewhat routine. (I still like my big movies, but a change of pace is good
now and then :)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch is probably a film that
most will look at and go, huh? And it's not at all surprising.
In Brisbane, at least, Hedwig only played at the Palace Cinemas, but did so for
quite a few weeks. The session I attended was packed (though I think a few folks had
no idea what they were in for :)).
While not quite the grand musical Moulin Rouge was, Hedwig
still holds it's own with it's original selection of rock songs. Not to mention it's
Sex-change transsexual lead character, Hedwig. (played by the DIRECTOR! of the film, John
Cameron Mitchell). Yes it's a little off the wall, but it works very well and the
end result is a terrific film, with a great music track and surprisingly good performances
all around.
If you want to know a little more on 'ol Hedwig (like
what the angry inch reference is all about :) , drop by the website, or even check out the interview with John Cameron
over at DVDfile.
Specs wise, Roadshow have pretty much pulled out all the
stops for what is really an ultra low budget independent musical movie and included a DTS
5.1 audio mix!! (something that ANY heavy music based DVD should have by default if
you ask me)

DVD Reviews
Kathryn has reviewed a rather intense movie with The Pledge (starring Jack
Nicholson in a brilliant roll) and something a little more light hearted with a comedy
remake of Heaven can Waitstarring Chris Rock, Down To Earth
