MORE DVD Slicks and Screen Shots
Drop by the DVD Slicks and Menu page for a look see at the slicks and Screen Shots from upcoming DVDs from Roadshow
Practical Magic and Savage Gardens first DVD of their Bris-Vegas Concert!.   Underworld have also released a chockfilled DVD with "everything everything"

Upcoming DVDetails
Due for release on 11th December from Roadshow is one of the many recent "chicks into witchy things moofies", and also another vehicle for Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, Practical Magic.  Sporting an Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer AND a Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio mix (no 2.0 mix here), it also includes for extras, an audio commentary, theatrical trailer, and 2 short featurettes.

Savage Garden have gotten into DVD in a big way with their Superstars and Cannonballs DVD (to be releases 5th December from Roadshow).  This is a pretty damn good looking/sounding DVD of their Bris-Vegas Shot Concert.  SG:SC was shot in 16:9 Widescreen so is Anamorphic on DVD, AND has a Dolby Digital 5.1 and 2.0 mix as well.  For Extras you get video and audio commentary on "selected songs" (picture in picture box for the video), and when you select this option, ONLY those songs will play in seqence so there's no big audio comment gaps (works well actually).  There's also a few video music clips, bios and a 20 minute doco, OH and a couple of the songs from the concert use the Multi-angle feature..very cool.

Another Music DVD coming out soon is Underworlds Everything Everything.   it to is Anamophic Widescreem with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, and has a music Clip workshop, doco and all sorts of goodies.

More Reviews From Cass

Check out our HORROR-IFIC new Page
After the recent review we did on  Dario Argento's Phantom of the Opera, I got a craving for something more horror, and so came up with a new site feature, the Hall of Horror, it's nothing too fancy but is a page dedicated to all the horror films we've reviewed on the site, and instead of the pretty blue colours you see on most our pages of recent times, this page is a nice gothic version of that, cobwebs and all!  (good thing i know diddly about Flash or god knows what would have happened to it!! ..so i drew the line at a creepy sound effect, and it only plays once at it'd drive you nuts!!!!! ..doesn't seem to work in netscape though :(

Oh, and if you know of any horror web sites out there NOT listed in our horror links section (and i DO mean horror based web sites, not web sites that look like crap!  :)  please email us at this HORROR-ific address

Latest Reviews
Paul's taken a look at the wanna-be matrix/dark city cross-bread Roland Emmerich produced The 13th Floor (actually I didn't mind this film/dvd, but it came out a bit too late in whole "living in another world" genre), and i've reviewed Jurassic Park and The Whole Nine Yards

WARNER SNAPPER REPLACEMENT
The other week we were informed the Warner replacement slicks would be on their way shortly, but alas, they have not turned up as yet. We realise that many of you are anxious to replace your snapper cases (many, MANY of you from the truckloads of emails we've been getting :).  We're just waiting on a reply from Warner on what's happening as we're in the dark just like you...  so again, stay tuned and don't build that Snapper Case bonfire juuust yet :)

DOLBY Digital Wall Plaques coming Downunder!!!
Woo-Hoo!  we've been wanting to do this for some time now, and quite a few dvd'ers have also made it quite clear they want one, so we're planning on selling the Authentic Dolby Digital Wall Plaques (along with few other Dolby Products).
We're still working on the pricing, but will be taking pre-orders soon and are aiming for a pre-Xmas arrival!...stay tuned
Oh and we're still trying for more DTS Plaques and hope to have more of those soon also.

Dreamworks Welcome the New Year
It's taken some time, but Thru Universal Pictures Video, comes Dreamworks DVDs!
On 24th January 2001, we'll see the first slate of Dreamworks DVDs to hit the Streets.   Dreamworks first batch of DVDs includes Deep Impact, Peacemaker, The Haunting, Amistad and In Dreams.
All these DVDs are Anamorphic Widescreen and have a Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track, along with a few extras goodies.
At presstime it is unknown if future Dreamworks DVDs will carry DTS audio tracks, though we can only hope the they follow the USA lead in this department (fingers crossed).
Oh and Galaxy Quest is due out in May 2001...sweeeet

- Paperback Hero : Starring : Hugh Jackman, Claudia Karvan, Angie Milliken

Anchors Away
it wasn't until a few months back that i realised James Camerson's Titanic was virtually an updated remake of the 1958 movie A Night To Remember.   This similarities are well, way too similiar!
Night is Due out on 4th December from Roadshow, and i must say that i was most surprised how good this 40 year old + film looksin all it's Anamorphic Widescreen! and to top it off, there's a 1 hour doco on the making of the film!  Not bad hey, oh yeah, it's also on of Roadshows "budget titles" ...retails for about $29.95, instead of the usual $34.95

Speaking of Boat movies, U-571 is due to submerge on 29th November.  ( i hear the soundtrack is a killer)

Reviews all around
A few reviews added today.  Paul's reviewd a few DVDs from a short while ago  Blue Streak (the sequel is coming in 2001 apparently), and Three Kings.   Cass has whipped up The Green Mile, For Love of the Game, The Iron Giant, and End of the Affair.
And me, i've reviewed a DVD which goes against everything i beleive in....NOT..  Dario Argento's Phantom of the Opera.

Oh and Phantom is our first DVD to incorporate DVD Screen Shots.  something we intend to incorporate in many more reviews from now on (now that we have the disc space :)

Snapper Cases Replacement part 22
Okay, it's not far away now.  Warner contacted us yesterday with the good news that it's only about a week away before they post us the DVD Slicks, which will essentially be for EVERY Warner DVD that came in a snapper case prior to April 2000!...yikes!
As mentioned earlier, we'll be offering a few specials and what not very soon, even before we get the slicks, and we also have a few possible ideas for the distribution of the Warner DVD Slicks....so stay tuned.

Bogie DVD Fest
Nearing the end of her Holidays in Bris-Vegas, Cass has managed to whip up a heap of reviews (is it sad when ones feels the need to take their DVD player with them on holidays.... no, i didn't see anything wrong with that either actually!  :)
Anyhoo, a few of the reviews cass had the errr...pleasure of reviewing were the Humprey Bogart DVDs.  The Maltese Falcon, Key Largo and The Big SleepMore to be posted over the next few days.

Info, use the Force
Yeah, i knew something was fishy when Infogrames announced some classic horror DVD releases.  They've joined forces [no pun intended] with Force Video.   A great move me thinks, with DVD'ing be still quite expensive.

BTW Halloween comes to us with an ANAMORPHIC WIDESCREEN transfer and a Dolby Digital encoded 5.1 track..
